Due to the method by which these people were invited the audience of this page right now can only be rivaled by bitcoin.org/bitcointalk.org in the early days. 

Before the rest of the internet discovers us, we ask that those who have recieved this invitiation hold what we share with you below privately in an effort to retain the cohesion of this community.

  • We think there is optimum community of crypto experts, engineers, and investors that if they were aligned could bring fundamental and necessary change for the evolution of the space. Protecting and promoting this community and vision is the number one goal.
  • We think Status.im was necessary to this vision when last year they proposed a messaging network capable of unifiying all smart contracts regardless of the blockchain. However, as the application came to light it became clear an alternative is necessary.
  • Smart contracts should be free for everyone, or incredibly cheap. We believe in the near future it is critical that startups invest in smart contract innovation.  Smart contracts should become as easy as "pip install <bancor>", "go get <gnosis>".

A lack of focus on smart contract development has started an unfortunate trend in the latest startups. The reprecussions of which can be seen in the Bancor.network's allocation of developer time from genuine blockchain technology to "hype" generating where they are incentivized to spend 90% of development resources on promo material and technology we already have in the world.

Below we have included some of the biggest ICO's this summer and their actual commit activity on the company github pages. Commit activity shows how much or who made a code submission to the company github.

Status RSK vs. Status.im

Status RSK (SRSK) is a modified fully functioning fork of the Status.im smart contracts, Dapps, and ecosystem deployed to run on Bitcoin through Rootstock. Status RSK is fully compatible with all Status.im contracts and is the first offering to be launched on the Bitcoin smart contract chain.

By deploying modified versions of the Status.im contracts SRSK is doing what XCP did as a fork of Ethereum or Litecoin as a fork of Bitcoin. We have all the functionality but are deploying it in a new (we think better) way. All of the Dapps/smart contracts that work with Status.im also work seamlessly with Status RSK (SRSK).

Difficult for Status.im to pivot to Bitcoin.

  By raising $94M of 3 BILLION tokens for wallets on the Ethereum network Status.im has made a definitive choice regarding what blockchain they support. 
  • Core technology offering depends on Ethereum and whisper, a ground up rewrite would be required.

  • Backtracking and re-education of their user base on why they now must support more than Ethereum.

  • Forking a project is a normal and arguably necessary part of developing new technology. Pivoting to copy the fork will defeat benefits of having an alternative and subsequent value of the original as users flock to the fork version which in this case would be Status RSK.

Dirty laundry in the industry.

    We went back and forth on if we should include this section. We ended up with the the logic that first, this is in the best interest of the community that we know this and demonstrates to others who already know that we are experienced developers in the space. 
  • Ethereum core (some ether camp) boot hundreds of cloud machines to artificially vote the DAO hard fork into passing.
  • Steemit is printing more tokens than is on the ledger. 
  • No Mircea Popescu (his blog, ranting) is not the DAO hacker, but he does know what actually happened to Cryptsy.
  • Polonix.com doesn't know how to handle floats/doubles/scientific-notation and it is being manipulated in margin trading.

10% (soon to be 20%) of all mining rewards go to the Bilderburg Group

10% (20% in the next version of Ethereum) of all mining fees in the block reward are being redirected to Ethereum's only investor groups AXA & Bilderburg (Ref: this post on the Ethereum blog PasteBin).
The Bilderburg group (aka Bilderburg club, Bilderburg meetings) this is a closed door annual meeting of the CEO's/CFO's of the top financial, banking, and public entities in the world. world. The populous keeps arguing "Ethereum is taking on the banks" when in reality, it's owned by them.

We do not mean to hang out dirty laundry without reason but instead demonstrate that the space has not reached the level of decentralization it claims and hope that it A. demonstrates our understanding of the environment, and B. results in further transparency by the parties involved. 



Other concerns that warrant a Status.im alternative

  • A. All eggs for smart contracts in the Ethereum basket.
A.1 Supporting only Status.im as the message app of cryptocurrency assumes that Ethereum is the only (and will remain) primary smart contract platform. This year alone have seen double digit growth for 6 other smart contract technologies including: Counter Party, Antshares, Cosmos, Lisk, and Ark.
  • B. Core message technology "Whisper" is fundamentally flawed, not built for server-server scale or message size / volume.

    B.1 Block distribution and messages share the same network connection over D-P2P protocol, if traffic consumes available bandwidth blocks can't get to users, causing a delay on not just the chats but the chain over all.

    B.2 Nodes must exchange private keys to encrypt two way connection which causes high CPU usage on the whisper node per-chat or Topic change. If this is down, becomes vulvernable to symetric vs asymetric tradeoff.

    B.3 Clients must determine if every message is a message they should be listening too. This record is stored in the individual node's memory. In traditional networks no central node this is managed by obfuscating the nodes peering functionality allowing for load balancing. However, in a p2p network, some peers are known and most can be found with ease which means attackers could slow down and stop dapp message functionality by simply flooding the protocol to select clients in high-load locations or who are used as seeders.

    B.4 Per Ethereum Core Dev Meeitng Minutes #10 - mins 28-30, miners can be tricked into validating signatures on tx transactions. This, being the same method in Whisper to initiate a secure chat. Either, miners will disable whistlisted TX call completely shutting down the possibillity of a secure message between Dapps or between users, otherwise Status.im must create a chat protocol that confirms signatures.

    B.5 The potential for Sybl attacks for this p2p chat model has not been resolved in p2p message encryption ref: https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6940#page-23. Hybrid decentralized authorities like Telegram is the way to avoid these attacks.

    B.6 Topics array does not have a memory cap. This allows for invidiual node oversubscription, which, while this is particular to the Whisper implementation on Ethereum nodes is should indicate the misuse of Ethereum as a chat protocol.     B.7 Memory intensive whisper admin functions can be called with impunity on open lite clients running Status: https://github.com/ethereum/go-ethereum/wiki/Whisper-v5-RPC-API#example-21
  • B.8 Transaction origin identification is front-runable by miners (per Vitalik in Ethereum Core Devs Meeting #18) which if front running is permissable then "Teller" functionality of the Status messaging platform is moot as nodes will not be able to guarentee chats have not been "double spent".  This also means if Tx.origin is re-assignable user identity theft is possible on Status.im.

    If anyone wants to go get bounties from Status.im for these, go for it.

  • C. Currently a private beta Kik Chat is launching their own messaging currency on Ethereum, becoming direct Status.im competitor.

    C.1 Wont use Ethereum as the backend chat protocol, only for rewards/points, which acknowledging the section above Status.im will have to leave Whisper.

    C.2 $120 million in VC funding, 300 million active users and 220 employees. 250,000 users join every day.

    C.3 Despite feature differences, public perception will categorize as opposed.

    C.4 Kik has extensive US operations leading to accelerated resolution of of legal issues (for either good or bad). In the event it is bad, the company has a traditional user base to fall back on and a larger war chest to pay legal costs. If possitive, Kik is positioned to capture this advantage faster.

  • D. Minimal Use of Tokens

    D.1 User wont see value in selling tokens for usage fees. Username creation or group creation is an anti-pattern to the successful chat models based around free services. This will either need to be disabled, or will be made worthless by some other mechanism necessary for them to acquire users.     D.2 The only in ecosystem use of these tokens described in the whitepaper was voting rights and in setting up a username over ENS. 

    D.3 ENS domain name registration assumes that simply executing the ENS contract directly will not be the cheaper way to change the address space (it wont).

  • E. Token Supply & ICO

    E.1 Enormous token supplies cause chain bloat. Large floats with variable length registers.

    E.2 Larger numerals burden exchange fullfilment. Harder for exchanges to maintain large fiat transactions as was demonstrated in continuous lag by Poloniex during the 2017 Ripple XRP rise.

    E.3 More susceptible to traditional BOT/HF abuse. BTC needs changes to account for rates under whole units and floats beyond 4 decimals as is handled on NASDAQ/SWIFT for HF.

    E.4 GAS requirements that were ignored for big players and strict for little players.

    E.5 Realized voting potential to user is minimal if measured by token share.

  Status RSK Tokens & Emblems

"An Emblem is a cryptographic asset that represents 1 or more signed tokens on seperate blockchains.

For the communities general use, we would like to define a new type of asset called an "Emblem" ("Emblems" in it's plural form).

An Emblem is a cryptographic asset that behaves like a token but represents a group of tokens through cryptographic proof on multiple blockchains. Groups can include any cryptographic asset such as contracts, data, or Token Factories. The associative methods might include HMAC signatures, signed proofs, hash maps, or shared genesis addresses, etc-- any method with can reasonably proof association without 3rd party verification or legal proxy.

An Emblem must have the same transfer/trade functionality of a Token. In this particular case the Status RSK "Emblem" is a signing authority of other keys, a voting mechanism, and a staking tool representing sub tokens in other blockchains.

Only 3,000,000 in total, Status RSK Emblem each have signed sub tokens in five other smart contract crypto currencies blockchains through a global registry contract.


Each Emblem includes a basket of tokens

Simply, we are deploying 5 Tokens based on Minime onto the top 5 smart contract block chains. These currencies behave as any ER20 token would. However, these are unique in that the contract representing them has private signing keys for all of the other chains. In this way we can support multi-chain signatures which will be necessary for our end goal of cross-chain contract execution.

Emblems are address space

It is clear with the success of the Ethereum Name Service (also) there is market demand for recognisable human readable names. Emblem holders own addresses which are signable in all five smart contract crypto currencies making them prime candidates for DNS like features similar to Urbit Stars.

Emblems are stores of value

Emblems are fully tradable, but will not be listed for some months. While you will be able to trade the child tokens in the basket closely following the sale we want to disincentize pump-dump behavior and discourage speculation.

This philsophy was first referenced in the Tezos documentation (we don't necessarily support them but it certainly looks interesting).

Emblems stake "mine" proof-of-sub/pro

Where supported by the protocol (initially Ethereum, and Lisk). Emblem owners will recieve  small amounts of the child tokens on the given chain based on how much is held at the address. The model is similar to that presented by Minereum except that the child token will be used as the gas for executing cross chain functions.

All that is required to "stake" mine more tokens is to have a the equivalent of amount for 1% parity between the token and the Emblem.

Hidden Hidden

Automatically, Emblem holders will start to mine in the sub currencies where per-block issuance is possible (ETH, LSK).

As you may have notice there is an omission in the above table labeled "Hidden". This is a coin whose integration we are keeping private to explore the market pricing effects of the token on its own. First this provides out of sample data and second it allows us to explore an additional pricing strategy should a unique one arise (we are thinking storage). Emblem owners will recieve the same binding in this chain as they had been given in the sale.

Telegram Chat  & Temporal Wallets.

Running live,  the 100 million users on Telelgram can use @srskbot to interact with and deploy chain-chain any contract they desire. They can simply reference the bot "@srskbot" in chat followed by the hash, name, or token  and the bot will scurry off to deploy the the contract into SRSK and Bitcoin Rootstock.





While Rootstock is in "Gingernet" we cannot recover funds sent to bot addresses.

We are still considering different names for the bot as srskbot doesn't feel very intuitive until the characters "SRSK" is mainstream. We are also testing @chainybot, @runthisbot, @installthisbot, @beaniebot as potential candidates for the primary name of the bot.

3rd Party Security Through Temporal "Smart" Wallets

A Temporal Wallet is similar in function to a normal wallet allowing a user to securely deposit and withdrawal crypto currency. Uniquely, a Temporal Wallet also lets said user schedule a time for the funds to change ownership from one address to another. This can be done in one full transfer or at set increments.


This method for timed fund release has numerous advantages.

1. The transfer does not cost gas.
2. Enables pay as you go and subscription payment models.
3. Allows for off chain services.

Secure 3rd party services, subscription services, and true off chain-oracles are all possible now through this tool. Originally banking operated in a similar way, offering to store capital or assets for you but executing it it on your behalf through investments made by the bank.

Temporal Wallet Example:
Dropbox Billing Subscription

Alice wants to send a large file cookie to Bob.

John runs an application that stores data on Dropbox and in return for a monthly service fee.

Alice sends money to the temporal wallet with each monthly amount released to John's address.

Temporal Wallet Example: SRSK Private Node launches Amazon's EC2 instances for clients every hour.

Alice wants to launch an Amazon EC2 cloud machine backup a copy of the block chain.

A 3rd party service waits for a list of contracts to authorize it's address at a given Temporal Wallet for every address that needs an instance a service launches a new Amazon Cloud Machine.

SRSK Private Node can now in a sense withdraw as much as was defined by the Temporal Wallt.


Rootstock & Sergio Learner

Sergio Demian Lerner is currently building Rootstack, the protocol we are using to deploy smart contracts on Bitcoin. He is single handed responsible for the discovery of 13 crypto currency critical vulnerabilities including Ethereum holes. He is important because we believe in his vision for Rootstock and Bitcoin and subsequently will enjoy the benefits of adopting his technology for use in verifying transactions on Status RSK.

Rootstock is already widely accepted as the smart contract platform for Bitcoin having 61% of the mining hash power already mining BTC to merge mine the Rootstock chain.

  • C. Using Rootstock Layer

    D.1 There is a known bug in mining Ethereum due to the use of UNCLE weights on edges, this is resolved by Rootstocks use of the DECOR++ protocol.

    D.2 The cosignatury layer for off chain distributed transactions (Luminio) is more secure, faster, and theoreteically expands Bitcoins daily user to 200M.

    F.1 As the first mover in the Bitcoin smart contract space, first multi-chain messge platform gains first mover advantages. 

    F.2 Status.im will be able to learn from mistakes made on our side, and visa-virsa. Similar to the choice by Litecoin to adopt Segwit-Lightning.

    F.3 Users of Status.im will be able to store value in Status RSK due to it's low supply and subsequent decreased volatility.

  • G. Built to assimimlate other smart contract's into the Bitcoin ecosystem.

    G.1 We have designed the Status RSK fork contract to be compatbile and extensible for integration with the functionality of Bancor, Aragon, and Swarm City smart contracts.

    G.2 Once the network stops it's test phase, we plan on developing the first bridge to URBIT, a giant leap ahead for distributied computing that harkens back to the vision of Plan 9.

The speed at which we deploy these contracts will support that understanding and decrease inflated valuations of current startup products with limited smart contract innovation.

Strategic Timeline


    Stage 1 : Samwise

Our goal for this first stage is to gather a strong dedicated community and peacefully absorb any relevant smart contract functionality into the Rootstock + Bitcoin protocol. This first begins with Status.im, but we will likely integrate the functions of Aragon, and Bancor. All linked under the SRSK registry.

Just like samwise gamgee, Lord of Rings by J.R. Tolkien. Rely on the industry for cutting edge features who will get the glory but also take the risks (dao, Dao, Dao? DAO! #OFK@!) of highly experimental development and in the burden of educating new features.

Ethereum has spent two years educating new users on smart contracts and they were not the first to try with smart contracts (qixcoin!).

Pre-Milestone Events
  • Rootstock goes live on Bitcoin.

    Stage 2: Forge Philosophy

Hire truly rare and uniquely skilled developers from our personal network and hopefully from this community. Impress upon them the pressure we feel: this is the most important code we will ever write.

During this period, we will post consistent technical updates but nothing else, the goal will be to exists for as long as possible without marketing agendas and promo material. We write code.

Speculation is a great risk for fledgling ideas and it will take some time to let people to educate individials on the consumption of the coin. We will be a light+lite weight small team following the original Instagram style, our hires will make this their life and will be expected to perform as if they are programming for history itself.

Milestone 1: Iron
  • Early stage staffing and pre-launch partners.
  • Complete ICO.
  • Legal establishment of a TR protectorate in a stable political environment. The current top candidate is a three part protected trust in Delaware and Switzerland.
  • List one of the sub tokens on an exchange--rip the band aid off and get rid of the pump-dumpers. Pair with a trusted exchange.
  • Staff a dedicated full time analyst to write daily reports on technical indicators, bot trades etc. and the cross SETH/XYZ. A sort of market scout advising when it might even be a good time to sell for a period and buy back later. He/she will be legally disconnected from the foundation to avoid possible collusion and while it might not be legally possible it is something we want to have in some form.
  • Adopt primary messaging contracts from Status.im followed closely by any relevant contracts likely Aragon, Swarm City and MakerDAO.

Milestone 2: Steel
  • Transition messaging capabilities to the Rootstak framework.
  • Cross chain push notifications and wallet synchronization RSK-BTC.
  • First two way peg between Urbit Star.
  • Cross chain push notifications between SRSK/RSK- URBIT/BTC.
  • Merge core assets to IPFS/Filecoin/SWARM--whoever survives.

Security & Anonymity

As you may have noticed we lack the traditional "who we are" bubbles. This is due to the enormous organizational risks associated with having a singular voice for a crypto currency. Unfortunately perverse incentives for market price manipulation may make targets of the leadership.

To remain as unknown as possible in the early stage is common. Both XMR and DASH were founded in this way and subsequently revealed to their users a "core dev" team. This technique ensures the long lasting strength of of Bitcoin's anonymity while avoiding a single voice taking control of the currency.
We are exporing a temporal wallet on XCP or Zcash which would reveal our names at a specific block in the future but have not determined a genuinely secure solution.

Distribution of Sub-Token Currencies

Each emblem holder is entiled to a proportionate amount of the intial token supply amount for each sub token on each chain. Ex. Owning 10 SRSK Emblems entitles it's owner to 1000 SETH tokens.

Issuance Timeline
  • SRSK will be released to users over the testnet two months from the launch of Rootstock. Unless the Rootstock mainnet is deployed sooner which will accelerate the timeline.
  • Sub-currencies we expected to be tradeable within 2 to 8 weeks from the end of the crowdsale, these will be released in order of the defalationary to fixed rate then by marketcap.
  • We are currently working to deploy the sub-currencies exclusively to a given exchange to diversify risk.
  • Sub-currencies we plan on making tradeable as soon as possible, weaker pump and dump individuals will get flushed out. As the relationship of Emblems with their sub-currency pairs becomes understood the price will resume stability. Our goal is for the sub-currencies to find 1:1 parity with their parent blockchain's BTC parity.

How to participate in the ICO

Option #1: An invitation code will have been sent to you in an email or letter.

  1. Paste your reusable invitation code in the field below labeled "Invitation code..."
  2. Select if you want to contribute Bitcoin or Ethereum.
  3. Download the multi-currency keystore wallet which you will use to redeem the SRSK Emblems.
  4. Send Bitcoin or Ethereum to contributation addresses for which you will recieve SRSK at the rate posted.

Ethereum Rate
  The Eth rate is pegged at BTC/ETH pair on Kraken from the moment we recieved the first confirmation of the transaction on the Ethereum block chain.

Transactions After Deadline
   If a transaction takes a particularly long time to validate we will either secure it's SRSK from the Dev supply if it is a small transaction or will return the funds.

Out of respect for the early computer days we are also allowing a limited number of units to be purchased and shipped on a floppy disk. Each floppy disk comes preloaded with 10 SRSK for $133 USD or 50 SRSK for $665 USD. Legally we have to say you are purchasing a floppy disk from us which includes promotional material (SRSK).

If you are committed/geeky/vintage enough or just like the irony of storing advanced technology on an old medium the floppy disk is the the only other method to participate in the Emblem sale.
